2018 New Jersey Chinese New Year

On February 15, 2018 Chinese American Family Coalition and Fort Lee high school successfully hosted 2018 Spring Festival celebration at Fort Lee High School. There were over 1000 people with different race traveled near and far and celebrated New year with us.  We truly appreciate everyone’s support, especially the local government and Board of Education.

 

This event included show case of exquisite Chinese crafts and pottery, magnificent traditional Chinese calligraphy, vivid paper cutting, aromatic and luscious tea art demonstration, delicious traditional Chinese food and a beautiful concert at the end. People from different race came to the event were especially interested in Chinese calligraphy, paper cute and tea demonstration. After the show case of varieties of Chinese cultural demonstrations, people had opportunity to enjoy some delicious Chinese food that were donated by local restaurants and local families.  And after the dinner, a concert took place at the high school auditorium. CAFC president Mrs. Angie Wei and high school principle Mrs. Lauren Glynn thanked everyone’s attendance and wished everyone a happy new year.

 

The concert was hosted by Tiffany Chen, Brandon Alvarez, Daniel Tang, and Julia Barros four high school students. Tiffany Chen and Brandon Alvarez are from Fort Lee High School, Daniel Tang is from Northern Valley Demarest and Julia is from Tenafly High School. The concert included group singing, dancing, violin, Chinese opera, QiPao demonstration…15 programs that were brought by members of CAFA, high school students, local music teachers, art groups, and local artists from New Jersey and New York area. The audience were definitely wowed by all the performances. The purpose of this event is to promote Chinese culture, increase society’s understanding of Chinese culture and promote culture exchanges among different ethnic groups.

 

The success of this event not only demonstrated the vitality of ethnic groups in the community, it also demonstrated the cohesion of the Chinese community in the local community. It also made a modest contribution to the continuation of a new chapter in the cultural exchange between China and the United States. Here, we’d like to thank all the volunteers who worked for this special event, over 40 students and many parents were here to help right after school until 10 Pm, and last but not least high school’s Chinese teacher Kejia Lu and mathematics teacher Chang Caulfield helped preparing this event a month advance. Of course photographers Tony Xia and Junhui Lin also few students who volunteered to take photos and videos captured the wonderful moments and that will be remembered by us forever.

 

For more than a decade, CAFC has been promoting the exchange of Chinese cultures and traditional arts between China and United States. It has also given people who love music, arts an international stage to show case their love and passion. We truly appreciate everyone’s support to CAFC association, we hope to take this association to a new level and create new memories in the coming years.

 

In the start of this new year, we welcome everyone who would like to share their talents with CAFC association so what we can create a community of solidarity, friendship and prosperity together.
